Grab your camping gear and festival mood!

We are going to let our hair down in Queensland, Australia, for 4 exciting days of music, art, sight seeing, relaxation, poetry, family bonding and a whole lot of fun.

It all began 20 years ago, back in 1996, from a gathering of local folkies. Today the Wintermoon Festival has grown into an event that offers an exciting variety of music, and it attracts an audience of all ages from all walks of life who gather to share in the joy that Wintermoon brings.

UNIQUE FESTIVALS OF THE WORLD: Wintermoon

The Festival is held on a beautiful property at Cameron’s Pocket, halfway between Mackay and Proserpine, set against the stunning backdrop of Eungella National Park in Queensland, Australia. It is bordered by picturesque St Helens Creek, which flows all year and provides a great swimming hole for guests and performers to cool off, if they can tear themselves away from the music and other seductive attractions on offer.

Not only does it boast some of the best world music performers from Australia, the festival also showcases local talent on three stages strategically placed at various locations within the grounds. Colourful market stalls, food stalls, kiddies activities, craft and music workshops dot the landscape.  There is a particular focus on family, and the festival aims to provide an exhilarating musical experience for all ages in a safe and friendly environment.

“Everyone smiles ‘hello’ as you wander around. It’s the friendliest festival I know. You feel like part of a community, not a festival-goer. Wintermoon punches above its weight in terms of the calibre and profile of national acts”

 Bruce Watson

Memories are still fresh from this year’s celebration of our 20th festival, but plans are already afoot for another exciting event set to open on April 28th and run to May 1st 2017.

Prepare yourself for a colourful program of music, poetry, workshops, children’s activities and circus fun that will all add to the delight of being in the picturesque setting of Cameron’ s Pocket; a wonderful experience itself, even without the extras!

While keeping our unique and personal feel, there are exciting changes in the wind for next year. Always evolving, we are hoping to extend our camping area beside St Helens creek – a favourite playground for families.  Stay tuned for updates!

We look forward to another outstanding program of live music over the 4 days of the festival.

Wintermoon is the ideal opportunity for motivated young local musicians to not only absorb great music but also to perform on the blackboard stage and in the Musicians’ Circle. An added bonus is that theses musicians can participate in the free  music workshops run by festival musicians.  However, the good news is that the Wintermoon Festival experience is not limited to music. Dance, magic, poetry and circus acts also have a place on the jam-packed program. Add to the mix the colourful market stalls, tasty food stalls, craft, children’s activities, and yoga and circus workshops.  There is plenty to do at this family friendly festival.

Performer Applications and Entry Tickets:

An array of amazing acts are chosen from the hundreds of talented applicants we receive each year. It’s an excruciating process of selection. We would like to embrace every one of our applicants and welcome them onto our stages; however, unfortunately time and space do not allow this.

  • Application forms will be available online from October 1st 2016.
  • In order to keep Wintermoon the intimate and friendly event we are known for, entry tickets will be limited to 1000 campers next year.  A bigger variety of food stalls will be on offer and facilities will be plentiful.
